Aesthetics Treatments & Downtime Expectations

When considering aesthetic treatments, one of the most common questions we receive is:

“What will the downtime be like?”

At the Anllo Center, we thoughtfully recommend treatments that deliver results while fitting them into your lifestyle. To help you plan your treatments with confidence, we’ve outlined what you can typically expect following some of our most popular services.

Each person's skin responds differently, but this guide will give you a general idea of recovery time and how your skin may look and feel after your treatment.

Botox

Botox is a convenient injectable treatment with impactful results.

Immediately After Treatment:
You may notice small injection marks or tiny bumps at the treatment sites. These typically resolve within 15–30 minutes. Do not rub or massage the treated areas.

  • First 24 Hours:
Occasionally, small bruises or mild redness can appear, but most clients return to work or social activities immediately. Stay upright for at least 4 hours. Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, hot tubs, or heavy sweating.
  • Results Timeline:
While downtime is minimal, the full smoothing effects develop gradually over 3–7 days, with optimal results appearing around two weeks.

What to Plan For:
Virtually no downtime, with only minor and temporary injection marks.

Dermal Fillers:

Dermal fillers restore volume, soften lines, and enhance facial contours with beautifully natural-looking results.

  • Immediately After Treatment:
Mild swelling, redness, or tenderness at the injection sites is common. Depending on the area treated, slight asymmetry may be present until swelling resolves. Do not massage or touch the area unless instructed by your provider.
  • 24–72 Hours:
Swelling typically improves over the first few days. Some clients may experience mild bruising but is not always common.
  • 1 Week:
Most swelling and bruising has resolved, and the filler settles into its final, refined appearance.

What to Plan For:
Plan for potential mild swelling for a few days and the possibility of bruising for up to a week.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a powerful collagen-stimulating treatment that improves skin texture, tone, and overall radiance by creating controlled micro-channels in the skin.

  • Immediately After Treatment:
Your skin will appear pink to red, similar to mild sunburn. You may also experience slight warmth, tightness, or mild swelling.
  • 24–48 Hours:
Redness typically subsides within the first day. Some clients notice light dryness or a slightly rough texture as the skin begins its renewal process. It is okay to wear makeup 48 hours after treatment.
  • 2–3 Days:
Most clients feel comfortable returning to their normal routine within a day or two.

What to Plan For:
Minimal downtime, with mild redness for about 24 hours. It is important to protect your skin from direct sunlight and to avoid excessive heat or sweat for 48-72 hours.

Microneedling with Radiofrequency (RF Microneedling):

RF microneedling combines traditional microneedling with targeted radiofrequency energy to tighten skin, improve texture, and stimulate deeper collagen remodeling. Because the treatment works at deeper levels of the skin, the recovery can be slightly more noticeable than traditional microneedling.

  • Immediately After Treatment:
Redness, warmth, and mild swelling are common. Your skin may feel tight or tender, similar to moderate sunburn.
  • 24–72 Hours:
Redness gradually subsides, though some clients may experience pinpoint marks or light swelling during the first couple of days. Maintain a constant, thin layer of Aquaphor to aid healing and manage dryness.
  • 3–5 Days:
You may notice mild dryness or flaking as the skin renews itself, similar to a sunburn feeling. Keep applying Aquaphor to treat dryness and tightness. It is okay to apply makeup after 3 to 5 days, depending on your healing and if the microneedling is paired with a resurfacing treatment.

What to Plan For:
Most clients allow about 2–3 days of social downtime, although many feel comfortable resuming normal activities sooner. It is important to protect your skin from direct sunlight for 1-2 weeks and to avoid excessive heat or sweat for 48-72 hours.

*For both Microneedling and Microneedling with RF you can experience faster recovery and enhance your results by adding PRP (platelet rich plasma) to your treatment*

Chemical Peels:

Chemical peels gently exfoliate the skin to improve tone, texture, brightness, fine lines and wrinkles, while also addressing concerns like discoloration, dullness, and congestion.

Immediately After Treatment:
Some clients experience mild tingling, dryness and may appear slightly pink, while others experience no lasting sensations after being treated.

  • Days 1-2:
Mild pink/red tone to the skin, similar to a light sunburn. Visible flaking is rare, but microscopic exfoliation still improves texture and tone. Key care involves gentle cleansing, hydration, and sunscreen use to protect skin. Avoid direct sun exposure, excessive sweating and heat.
  • Days 2-3:
Skin appears smoother and more radiant! Continue to use sunscreen, may begin using retinol again.

What to Plan For:
Most clients have no visible downtime. We call our peel treatments the “glow and go” for a reason!
